(having a kenya moore twirl twirl twirl moment 🙂 )
then easter morning i didn’t love my new option either so i just went with my original gut feeling and it worked! at least i feel like it did, so if you disagree maybe keep it to yourself?
i’m SO glad i went with the floral midi dress. it fit me well without being too tight or loose. everything stayed in place and i didn’t have to spend the whole church service tugging and pulling. its more than long enough, so when the wind started aggressively blowing i didn’t have to worry about showing my bits. and the floral pattern really is pretty perfect.
also, i highly recommend that everyone get a pair of [fake] rockstuds to have in your closet. i’ve worn mine SO MANY times and they’re honestly so comfortable and go with so many things! if i could invest in the real deal i totally would.
(from my birthday last year. outfit details in this post.)
its my birthday week! and i actually generally hate my birthday if i’m being honest. i feel the same way about my birthday as i do new years and valentines…a lot of build up for something that should be fun but never turns out as expected.
ANYWAYS. i had a really hard time coming up with a birthday list, so i thought it would be fun to share the actual list that i ended up sending to my mom and marty. its the most random collection of things that i’ve come up with to date, so i’m thinking i’m really going to be surprised come friday (fingers crossed).
- an apple watch (this is a long shot FOR SURE, but it doesn’t hurt to ask right!?)
- a coffee pot with single serve and full pot options
- all birds sneakers. i’ve seen these styled so many different ways over the last few months. they look SO comfortable, and the option to not wear socks is definitely a plus.
- fleetwood mac and the eagles on vinyl.
- a pretty new phone case.
- adidas slides. i actually had these about 8 years ago and i’m kicking myself for ever getting rid of them!!
- truly madly guilty by liane moriarty.
- a pretty new tote bag, since mine is getting pretty worn.
- cute peep toe booties.
- adidas originals t-shirt.
- a sweet little pajama set
if you hadn’t figured it out yet, i’m kind of a brat when it comes to gifts and being surprised. i feel like i curated a pretty well rounded list of options, right!? i’ll be sure to let y’all know what i end up with. i’m sure you’re on pins and needles 😉
(full outfit post here)
i’m sorry for the lack of outfits around here lately. all of the weird weather has left me completely uninspired, truthfully. now that spring is officially here/its probably already summer now, my creative juices should be flowing again. i also have a few fun beach trips planned which will for SURE inspire me! for now, please forgive me, and just blame the psycho weather we’ve had in tennessee as of late.
also, happy easter! easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. the celebration of the resurrection of jesus is just awe inspiring really. please take a moment this weekend to reflect of the sacrifice, and what he did for US. for US, guys! (sorry, not sorry, to get a little preachy)
and what better way to celebrate the lord’s death and resurrection than to do some shopping, amiright? well, other than eating your weight in ham, deviled eggs, reese’s eggs, and pie, but i digress.
shopbop: 20% off orders under $500, 25% off orders over $500 with the code EVENT17
if you are a regular reader of blogs, then you are probably way over hearing about the big shopbop sale. it IS a really great sale though. there are few exclusions and you can get a lot of great pieces that normally don’t even go on sale, or wouldn’t until the end of the season. my advice is to make a list of things you want and then do item specific searches. for example: i really wanted/needed a new pair of jorts. so, i filtered my search for jean shorts and then set the sort to low to high, and boom. all the shorts to choose from. i ended up ordering this one teaspoon pair in two different sizes in hopes of finally finding a pair of one teaspoon shorts that fit me (that whole no stretch thing doesn’t work for my booty).
nordstrom rack: clear the rack (extra 25% off markdowns0
i’m a sucker for a good clear the rack sale. they’re my favorite!! fringe booties for less than $25? sold. 7FAM jeans for less than $45. a beautiful off the shoulder, lace tularosa dress for $54. all the wildfox for less than $50. can y’all see how i’m so addicted to shopping?! i can’t stay away from a good deal!!
other great sales:
j.crew: 30% off with the code MUSTHAVES
j.crew factory: 50% off everything
old navy: entire store on sale, up to 50% off
gap: 40% off your purchase with the code HOPTOIT
banana republic: 40% off your purchase
macy’s: extra 20% off (but really when is macy’s NOT doing 20% off…?)
asos: shop more save more sale-$50 off $200, $70 off $250, and $100 off $350
forever 21: extra 30% off sale items with the code EXTRA30
target: $10 off when you spend $50 on clothes and accessories with the code STYLE10
my main tip when shopping any sale is to filter the items first by category, then by size, sort the items priced low to high, and repeat for any category you’re looking for. a lot of times places like j.crew, j.crew factory, old navy, gap, and banana republic will have a pretty manageable sale section; so i’ll just filter the entire sale page by my sizes and sort it low to high and go from there. fast fashion places like asos and forever 21 have a million things on sale most of the time and its easier (and less overwhelming) to sort by specific category.
or, if you’re feeling completely overwhelmed by the sale shopping process in general and need help finding a specific item-HOLLER AT YOUR GIRL. i love shopping a good sale, and helping spend someone else’s money just means i’m not spending my own 😉
printed jeans are so far out of my comfort zone, but i fell in love with these star jeans the second i saw them. i’ve learned that white jeans don’t do anything for me other than excentuate my cellulite, but the subtle print distracts from my flaws. and these jeans are pretty thick for white jeans and aren’t see through which is an added bonus.
also, my hair is darker! i’ve been mostly blonde for about 7 years, but it’s just so much maintenance. if i had all the time and money in the world, i would be super blonde (like i was here), but until i win the lottery my god given color will have to do. once again, laura killed it. if you’re in nashville and need a hair girl, i cannot recommend laura enough!!
i walked by this shirt in nordstrom a few years ago and i immediately bought it, no questions asked. if you know me, you know i’m not touchy feely and i literally need my space. also, i teach a class of stage five clinger 3 year olds, the shirt speaks for itself really.
